Farmer’s Choice Cocopearl substrate consists of a blend of 70% high quality coco fibre and 30% perlite, making it a reliable and easy to use substrate for hydroponic and potting systems. Cocopearl has a good balance between water retention and drainage, allowing gardeners to supply nutrient solutions more frequently to ensure consistent nutrient profiles. Cocopearl is an ideal substrate to ensure nutrients are present and available during plant growth.

Farmer’s Choice Cocopearl is a 70/30 blend of coco fibre and perlite to achieve a balance between liquid nutrient retention and drainage for excellent plant growth.

Cocopearl has excellent retention properties due to its small particle size, which promotes a high degree of nutrient retention around the root zone.

Perlite is a highly porous silica substrate with a large particle size that does not retain water and therefore promotes drainage. Farmer’s Choice Cocopearl gives gardeners additional control by allowing them to optimise their setup to meet the needs of their plants.

Increased airflow to the substrate.

The perlite in Cocopearl provides increased aeration by creating air « pockets » throughout the substrate due to the special size of the perlite particles (3-10 mm).

The added air flow inhibits the establishment of anaerobic microbes in the substrate that tend to be pathogenic. Due to the larger particle size of the perlite, Farmer’s Choice Cocopearl also resists compaction during transport and storage, ensuring it is free flowing and ready to use. The air/water balance of this substrate makes it ideal for LED growing.
