For what type of cultivation do we recommend using seramis clay granules?

These clay granules work very well in recirculation systems where the water pump is permanently running. It never gets waterlogged and there is no danger of suffocation.

It is advisable to water less when transplanting, for example, in a block of rockwool, and to increase watering gradually. It is recommended to transplant into a pot that can contain between 5 and 15 litres of Seramis expanded clay, depending on the type of plant and the length of time it will be grown.

You should know about expanded clay…

They are clay balls, round or irregular (depending on brands), which come from clay that expands and forms porous balls that make a great hydroponic substrate.

They have been used for years due to their availability and the fact that they are pH neutral and reusable. However, they are a heavy substrate and dry out sooner than growers expect because they hold almost no water.

The gardener using expanded clay must be careful with watering to avoid problems. Expanded clay comes in various particle sizes and can be used alone or as part of a mix, usually mixed with coconut fibre.
