Farmer’s Choice Opentop are bags of coco coir already filled and ready to use. Simply open the bag containing a special blend of compressed coconut fibre, hydrate, mix and add to your plants. They are composed of raw coco medium, washed five times, blended from coco peat and coco chips without fine dust particles, and compressed for use. Carefully designed to retain moisture and provide ample airflow.

The coir in the mixture with which they are filled is subjected to a 4-6 week curing period, after which the fibres are separated and sorted. This process adjusts the EC and increases the fibres’ flexibility and durability without any deterioration. The product is then washed 4 times with water and once with steam, which removes contaminants and salts. This process is called MaxWash and reduces Na and Cl levels to below 70 ppm.

During the production process of the different coco mixes, fine particles smaller than 5 mm are removed just before the product is compressed; this means that there is better drainage, full expansion, better nutrient absorption and less water consumption. Precisely because there is more aeration and more nutrient availability, production increases by 10-15%.
