Riococo is Sri Lanka’s leading manufacturer of specialty coconut fiber substrates. The coconut they produce is of their own production, as well as the production and quality control plant. The harvested coconut undergoes a 4 to 6 week curative period, after which the fibers are separated and classified. This process adjusts the CE and increases the flexibility of the fibers and their durability without suffering any deterioration. The product is then washed 4 times with water and once more with steam, which removes contaminants and salts. This process is called MaxWash and it reduces the levels of Na and Cl to levels below 70 ppm.

During the production process of the different coconut mixtures, fine particles smaller than 5 mm are removed just before compressing the product; this means that there is better drainage, total expansion, better absorption of nutrients and less water consumption. Precisely because there is greater aeration and more availability of nutrients, production increases between 10 and 15%.
